The
Périgord (to give the Dordogne its traditional
name) is a beautiful area of France, rich in history
and tradition.
Interspersed amongst rolling hills of oak and chestnut trees
are valleys rich with crops, and plum and walnut orchards.
Stunning
hill top chateaux, pretty villages of warm sandstone and enchanting
gardens tempt the eye and fill the heart.
Unspoilt
medieval bastide towns and abbeys evoke the sense of history.
Vineyards offer a chance to savour the distinctive personality
of the diverse wines of the region whilst restaurants offer
the traditional fare for which the Périgord is famous
- foie gras, les truffes, magret de canard, cèpes and
les noix (walnuts).
Markets bustle with stallholders, producers
and artisans beckoning you to stop and taste their fine regional
produce... and, throughout it all, as
it has done for centuries, the majestic Dordogne – the
river of hope - meanders gently on its way. |

We
have designed La Salvetat mini-breaks for you to choose
your own path to discover this abundant region.
Steve and Ann Jordan and their staff welcome you to La Salvetat,
a family-run friendly 3* hotel, delightfully situated near
Cadouin, in tranquil, open countryside in the heart of the
Bessede forest.
Enjoy panoramic views, pretty bedrooms with
cosy terraces, infinity swimming pool and a mature park and
gardens. In the cooler months dine in our charming restaurant
with a huge central wood fire or in summer, on our shady terrace
with fine views.
Ann and Fabien, our classically-trained Périgordien
chef, devise our menus to give a mix of traditional and modern
cuisine with vegetarian options. With prior notice we can also
cater for other special dietary requirements. |
